One of the largest distributors in the UK shooting sector, Edgar Brothers has set a new precedent for the industry by sending its Sales and Armoury staff on a NRA Range Conducting Officers’ training course at Bisley.
Due to the Cheshire-based distributor holding increasing numbers of open days for its brands at clay grounds and rifle ranges, staff felt the training would give them more flexibility at events as well as enhance health and safety and enable them to give qualified support if required.
The two-day course, which is recognised by the Ministry of Defence, qualifies civilians to conduct live firing on military ranges. Jon Workman, Tim Hill, Paul Grimshaw, Ben Ewart, Dave Tomlinson and Tom Heapy all obtained the qualification after passing the written and oral tests, and on-range practical assessments for full bore and gallery rifle.
Edgar Brothers’ Senior Sales & Marketing Manager, Lisa Riley, explained: "Getting our staff qualified was a complete no brainer. When you work day-in and day-out with firearms, it's easy to become over familiar and while some of our employees were range officer qualified in the military, we felt that this qualification, was an extremely important asset that needed to be fully up to date for use in their roles. They left with pride and gratitude for what was a very motivational and important qualification for them to achieve.”
